I am so pleased to announce the opportunity to give back as a photographer, Moment by Moment is a 501(c)3 non -profit, established in August of 2005 who’s goal is organizing photographers who wish to donate their time and skill to provide free portraits to families who’s children are battling cancer or other life limiting illnesses as well as the financially and emotionally crippling effects of longer term care. I know that many of you have expressed interest in getting involved after my last email. Here is what you need to do if you want to participate in this noble endeavor:
Take a minute and send an email to Karen email@example.com and let her know that you plan on joining her team of eager photographers, this will greatly encourage her. After speaking with her on the phone today you could her it in her tone how excited she was to hear that so many wanted to be involved, she had told me that they are overwhelmed with requests for these sessions and had a few big holes in Northern California and her team of photographers are just swamped and really need the help.
Karen also told me they had a need for Spanish speaking photographers, so if Spanish is in your bag of tricks let her know that also. Or if you speak a second language let her know which one.
Next, go to the Meetup site (http://www.meetup.com/Northern-California-Portrait-Photographers/) and look under “More” and then “Files”, download the pdf “Moment by moment photographer training pdf”. Read the pdf and there is a page for you to sign and return to Karen.
Some of you know that this last year while I was conducting a workshop my wife called to let me know that she and my 1 year old daughter were being loaded on a plane and flown to UC Davis because of breathing complications. After only three days of living through this short ordeal I gained a greater appreciation of those families that are not as lucky as to have our happy ending. I met many families that came to our room (These were parents of children with life threatening illnesses) to make sure we were doing alright. I knew right there I needed to give something back, I just didn’t know, until now.
Join me in letting Karen know that she can count on us to keep this wonderful program moving forward!!!
